Chapter 1

BUZWE (OB)

Was another week for my therapy. I decided to wear spots wear and I was quite in a good mood.

Me: Morning Miss Anderson

She smiles immediately seeing me

Her: Morning OB how are you today?

Me: I'm fantastic how are you?

Her: I'm great

We both took our seats and she grabbed her notebook. She kept on smiling at me.

Her: Look at you!

I smiled

Her: Such in a jolly mood. I can tell by the bright colours you wearing you're free no tension...

Me: Not grumpy!

Her: Not grumpy! Yah.

We giggled.

Her: Tell me about your week. How was it?

Me: It was great really awesome. Besides my job I spend my days looking for a pet as you've adviced. I decided on a dog a Pitbull.

Her: I kinda new you'd opt for that

Me: (giggles) Am I that predictable?

Her: Getting to know you yes you are.

Me: Yah... I decided to name it Funo full for Lufuno which means Love in Venda.

She nods impressed.

Her: Okay.

Me: Yah I believe I've been seeking for love in wrong places and forcing it out of people. I think Funo and I will get along and perhaps teach each other something. So long I wait for the right person.

She nods.

Her: I'm impressed with you OB you doing well keep it up. And today our session will not be long we keeping it short.

Me: Okay

She got up and went to take pages that were compiled.

Her: This is what I've prepared for you. I wrote all the hobbies and activities you should try out to keep your mind busy and creating yourself happiness. Some you might find interesting and some not so interesting. But you'll try with what works for you. It'll also help with your temper.

I took the papers.

Me: Thank you

My phone vibrated.

Me: Sorry

I opened the message and read it.

Kene: "I hope you haven't forgotten about me."

Me: "Why would I? 🙂. I'm coming"

Kene: "Awesome🙃"

I smiled and left the app.

Her: Mhm! We're smiling.

I shook my head

Me: Mxm it's my sister. I have a trip to Durban I'm going to fetch her. She'll live with me since she'll be studying this side. Now she keeps on reminding me not to forget. I bet she wants freedom from Mom.

Her: Ohh your sister who lives with your Mom?

Me: Yes

Her: It even gets better now that you'll have company.

Me: Tell me about it.

She laughs.

Her: I wish you a safe journey on fetching your sister. Don't forget!

Me: I won't bye

Her: Goodbye.

I left her office and walked to my car.

While I was driving back to my place I received a call from my bud. It's Friday and we usually party starting from this day. I met him in gym and we clicked immediately.

Me: Joz

Jozea: Hey bhasted

I giggled

Me: Yo bhasted! How are you saan?

Jozea: I'm grand boyzins how are you?

Me: I'm sharp sharp my broe.

Jozea: I'm calling just to remind you about tonight. I know you sometimes like your space undisrupted. So I'm checking if the mood is a yay. Cause we planning something big. There'll be some fine chikkitas and dude don't disappoint! You'll engage by force if you have to.

I giggled

Me: Aissh my man there's a bummer

Jozea: Ayyy no what's up?

I sigh

Me: Gotta fetch my sister eThekwini she'll be staying with me.

Jozea: Ohh well I guess no party for you then. I'll make sure to send you snaps of the litiness you missed out on.

Me: Bhasted!

Jozea: Yo bhasted! Have a safe trip my man.

Me: Thanks broe.

We ended the call while laughing.

I continued driving to my place. Just needed to fetch few of my stuffs this will be a long drive.

KENEILOE

My Mom was helping me pack.

Mom: What did he say?

Me: He says he hasn't forgotten meaning he's on his way.

Mom: Ohw

She shrugs and was more focused on the packing. I could see there was something more.

Me: Kanti Mama when is your beef ending?

She curves her lips

Mom: I have no beef with my son.

Me: Qha? (But?)

Mom: It's complicated Kene don't get involved.

Me: But Mama it's not normal mos. I mean I miss my brother your tension is drifting us apart. We no longer have that "brother & sister" relationship because of this. It's been years Mama! Years not talking to each other and him being away from home. You need to resolve your issues so that we can go back to being a normal family again.

She closed her eyes throwing my clothes.

Mom: Keneiloe you don't understand. uBuzwe killed someone do you know what I had to do to make sure that he's free? Imagine ukuba bendi ngumntu ongena mali.. bekuzothini? uBuzwe ngu Tatakhe qha qwaba! (Imagine if I wasn't rich.. what was gonna happen? Buzwe is his father!)

Me: Yes he may be his father but uzelwe ngubani? (who gave birth to him?)

She looks at me

Me: Dlala indima yakho Mama (Play your role Mom.) Kamnandi you can see how well he's doing for himself now since you are tailing him. He's well behaved and hasn't been getting in any troubles. Gomolemo is engaged and nothing has happened to her fiancé yet that should mean something. That he has changed... so please give him the benefit of the doubt.

(Silence)

Me: You need to stop comparing him ku Tata like ha.ana Mama it's not right. For how long has Dad passed on? That was many years ago almost 30 years. Let him Rest In Peace and make peace with his son please it's not on.

I looked at her.

Me: Ufika oku kwakhe nithethe kahle nenze uxolo (When he arrives talk nicely with him and make peace.) This level of pride is not on.

I said my piece and continued with what I was doing. She remained silent thinking deep about what I said.

JOZEA

I was closing my gym a bit early today at 2pm. Fridays I normally close at 4 but since I've got alot of important things to do I'm closing early.

I'm a fitness coach I founded this gym 4 years ago and I'm doing very well with it more people are expanding and coming to the gym. People find comfort in this place. I really enjoy working with people. This is more than a job to me it requires me to be a counselor and also be patient with people. Getting to lend an ear help people deal with their emotions help build their confidence and give them hope that they'll get their end of results. I get real tough as if I hate them when I help them reach their body goals.

Right now I was driving to my parents' house Dad called and told me to pass there before I go to my place.

I parked my car outside and got inside.

Me: Dad

Dad: Joz you here already? Isn't it too early?

Me: I closed early than my usual time cause I have many things to do

Dad: Ohh okay

Me: Where's Mom?

Dad: She left with Pearl went to do charity work.

I frown.

Me: Isn't Pearl supposed to be at school?

Dad: You know with this Covid thingy they go in groups. Today they attending tomorrow they stay home and learn online.

Me: It's hectic

Dad: Yah

Me: So what's important Dad that I had to drop everything and come.

Dad: Your Aunt called

Dad: Your Aunt called she wants to speak to you.

Me: Nana?

Dad: Which other Aunt do you have?

I giggled.

Me: Ayy man it's been a while hearing from her shu!

Dad: Yah she wants to talk to you

I looked at him

Me: Couldn't you forward me her contacts than coming all the way here?

Dad: I just wanted to hear what she's gonna say or ask from you.

Me: (sarcastic tone) Heeh Taima!

We both laughed

I called her with Dad's phone and she picked.

Aunt: Biggie

Me: No it's me auntie

Auntie: Jozeaaa!

Me: Tannie!

Auntie: How are you? Omg your voice is deep you so grown hey.

I chuckled and we catch up more till we got to the real point.

Auntie: Actually son there's something I wanna run by you.

Me: Okay I'm listening

Auntie: My daughter applied in UJ and now she got accepted she just viewed her emails other institutions this side have also accepted her. But she's adamant about coming to South Africa.

I giggled

Me: Aww Sheree what is she doing to you maar?

Auntie: Joh! this child will be the death of me. Tell me how can I look after her when she's far from me.

Me: You babying this child too much tannie.

Auntie: I was also babied like her so I have to. So... I'm asking for you son to please keep an eye on her as I'm far away from there. I know I had to run this first to Bryan but you know these kids they can beat you with mind games. Atleast you won't be easily fooled by her cause you're almost the same age group.

I chuckled.

Me: Nah I don't mind Auntie I'll watch her like a hawk. Crooks won't even stand a chance.

She sighs in relief and I chuckle

Auntie: Now I can breathe thank you son. Please give your father the phone so I can speak more to him.

Me: Okay... Dad.

I smile as I hand him the phone. I watch as they continue speaking. I'm so excited that my cousin is coming to SA.

BUZWE (OB)

Hours later I was in Durban parking outside my Mom's triple storey house. I didn't wanna get in I leaned on the bonnet as I wait for my sister to pack finish.

Me: I hope that's the last load.

She giggled

Kene: Just one more

Me: Hay hay hay

Kene: Come on Buzwe one qha

Thanks to my therapy we touched a topic on my first name. Now I'm no longer affected by someone calling me by it.

Me: No Keneiloe zishiye maan (leave them) I can always buy you a new wardrobe of clothes.

Kene: Hmmmm!

She smirked

Me: Yes your brother is monied sis' wam.

Kene: Okay!

Women and money they like amathe no lwimi (saliva & tongue.)

You'd swear I'm older than Keneiloe yet we're the same age she's used to being spoiled. She's older than me with few months ahead of me. But Mom spoils her too much she doesn't want her touching or lifting a single thing. She receives anything she wants while just lazing around. She even got behind with school cause after passing matric Mommy didn't want her to further her studies or work cause she's already bringing money.

Mommy has really misled my sister but I'm glad she's now awake... and pushed to go back to school. She'll enrol her studies in UJ she got accepted there.

Kene: You won't go in and greet?

Me: No

Kene: Buzwe

Me: Ha.a I'm not in the mood let's get in the car.

Kene: Yhini kodwa mntase inqala engaka (Why you hold so much grudge?)

Me: It will be your mother who'll come and make peace with me. It shouldn't come from anyone else and also she shouldn't be persuaded by anyone. It must come from her within her conscience. Then I'll be ready to let her back in my life. For now I play at a far distance.

She looked at me without saying anything. As we were standing there we saw Mommy appearing on the balcony drinking a green smoothie.

Her eyes were locked with mine. She awkwardly lift her hand and waved at me.

I got off the bonnet.

Me: Let's go Kene

Kene: Buzwe

Me: Keneiloe!

She didn't protest with my stern voice. I got in the car.

Kene: Bye Mommy!!

Mom: Bye have a safe trip with your brother. I love you both!

Me: Ssshhi

I snicker while shaking my head and hoot impatiently for Kene to get inside. She came running and got inside. I immediately start the car and drive off.

Our trip was really long we'd stop by and buy something to eat every 2 hours. Kene can't drive  like I don't understand what's been Mom doing with my sister all this time mara. Yho!

I stopped at the garage.

Me: Yho sisi I need to buy Reboost I'm getting drained.

She rubbed her eyes looking sleepy.

Kene: Okay

Me: Should I buy you something?

Kene: No I'm fine

Me: Okay

I'll actually buy her something. I got out and bought myself an energy drink. Bought her Coke Doritoz and Pie. I went to pay and bumped to someone.

Us: Wooo!

I chuckled.

Me: Sorry I hope I didn't..

She got up

Gomolemo: Obakeng??

Gomo! She looked wow.. and breathtaking.

Gomolemo: Why don't you leave me alone??

She began to cry.

Me: I didn't know you were here.. I wasn't st-

Gomolemo: Just leave me alone!!!

She shouted and ran off. I ran to the door and stopped midway.

Me: I wasn't stalking... you.

I frowned looking down. I saw her leaving her items behind before paying. I also noticed something blinging in her hand like a ring. So she's engaged?

I went to pay and left.

Kene: Ah! I said don't buy me anything.

I was far with thoughts.

Kene: Buzwe??

Me: Just give it to a stranger or throw it away if you not gonna save it for later on.

(Silence)

Kene: Are you okay?

I blinked myself back to earth.

Me: Yeah yeah I'm okay. (looking at her) I'm fine.

I moved my hand around the ignition and started the car. Kene didn't buy that as she slowly lay back on her seat.

Kene: Can I play music?

Me: Yeah

Atleast it'll save us from the awkward tension engulfing us.

🎶 Up in your room once again tempted

Bad for me it's the truth but I can't miss this

Don't tell my friends that I'm here to visit

Don't tell my friends that I'm here

Waiting for you even how you treat me

You're my baby even when you leave me

Maybe I'm the one to blame

Maybe I'm the cause of pain

Waiting for you even how you treat me

You're my baby even you leave me

Maybe I'm the problem and the one that's causing all of this

I can't say I love you no more

Cause my friends gon' judge me for sure

It took some time but I realized

You do me wrong but it feels right

I can't say I love you no more

Cause my friends gon' judge me for sure

It took some time but I realized

You do me wrong but it feels right

Feels like I'm stuck on you🎶

I place my hand over my mouth as I focused more on my driving. Tried my utmost best to push my tears back from coming.
